A group of teenagers in late 19th century Germany, navigate the trials and tribulations of adolescence. The story centers around Wendla, a young girl who is curious about the changes happening to her body, and Melchior, an intelligent student who tries to educate his peers about sexuality. However, the strict social mores and repressive attitudes of the adults around them lead to tragic consequences.
Music by Duncan Sheik. Book and lyrics by Steven Sater. Based on the play by Frank Wedekind.
